| The Issues |
| FAMILY |
| The most important part of each of our lives is family, Our
commitment to the values and strengths which have made our country
great. Insuring our children are safe in our schools and in
our communities. Insuring our elderly are comfortable and secure
in their homes. The joy I have as every parent does, talking
to my teenage daughter about college and her own future. These
are just a small part of my commitment to the State of Arizona
and as your State Representative I will fight for the men and
women who serve our community as police and fire fighters as
paramedics and all those people who work hard each day to make
Arizona a safe place for our families. |
|
| TAXES |
| I am a business owner. I understand the burden taxes and regulation
place on business and individuals. Few will dispute our schools
need more funds, that our elderly need more care and that the
poor deserve the compassion and assistance we can provide. Some
will tell you we must raise taxes to provide these things. I
will tell you we do not. You raise revenues by increasing prosperity.
You increase prosperity by lowering taxes, reducing regulation
and educating our citizens. Increasing freedom and free market
ideas will increase Arizona’s prosperity not government
intervention. We must balance our budget, stop the spending
and get government back to helping only those who truly need
the help of government. |
|
| JOBS |
| I have worked hard to create a successful business here in
Southern Arizona. I have built my business from the ground up
and have been creating jobs and providing opportunity in my
community for nearly 18 years. I understand how important it
is to the Arizona worker to have a job, to provide for their
own families and their own children’s futures. I will
continue to work hard bringing high tech, high paying jobs to
Southern Arizona so our children and grandchildren can look
forward to bright futures and opportunity. |
|
| EDUCATION |
| I am the eldest son of two public school teachers and the
product of public education. I grew up in the home of teachers
on the salary of teachers and I believe strongly in the commitment
of society to public education. Yet expressing the positive
benefits of public education does not mean I cannot point out
the certain failures of the current system. We can improve the
quality of education in three ways. Shift the financial power
from government to the parents by expanding school choice. Recognize
outstanding teachers through merit pay and finally shift the
power to hire and fire to the principal of each individual school.
We must move into the 21st century with our education system
so our children can leave our public schools with the optimism
of a prepared mind and the determination of a successful spirit. |
|
| BORDER SECURITY |
| Part of what makes America the greatest country on earth is
our commitment to the rule of law. That first and foremost no
man is above the law regardless of income or status. The failure
of government to stop illegal immigration degrades our commitment
to this premise. Arizona must work as a team player to secure
our border. I oppose the idea of “sanctuary cities”
and believe all government is obligated to follow the laws mandated
by the people. I believe strongly in the American dream. The
right of each of us to pursue our own notions of happiness.
Immigration is a proud part of the American dream and the American
way. We must insure that the legal immigrants, those who follow
the rules, have equal access to that dream and those opportunities
which have made our country the greatest democracy on earth
and I would ask all people in America today to respect our laws,
respect our culture and respect our Country. |
|
| ENVIRONMENT |
| As Arizona grows so must our commitment to organizing growth
in a sustainable way. We must start now planning for Arizona’s
future generations by recognizing our limited natural resources
and insisting on more parks and open spaces in our developing
communities. We must insist on greater access to modernized
transportation and abandon century old city planning patterns,
which create sprawl, in favor of modern multi modal city planning.
We must work hard to maintain Arizona’s high quality of
life and its rural livability. |
